St. Katharine Docks Tour Booking Form

Historically London's East End was home to far more than murderers like Jack the Ripper and the criminal underworld of the Kray twins, which from some tourist literature you could be forgiven for thinking are key.  In fact, in its Victorian heyday, the eastside of London's river Thames was home to the largest port in the world. Everything from ships carrying Zanzibar ivory to West Indian sugar convoys unloaded on the globally renowned East End docks which were once a cornerstone of the most powerful empire in the world.

Our tour of St. Katharine Docks and Wapping focuses on trade and the changing nature of production. We will take you behind the scenes of a London that was once the warehouse and workshop of the world. Beginning at St Katharine Docks, the tour will follow the River Thames along Wapping High Street and end at Tobacco Dock on Wapping Lane. In the hour and a half it will take to complete this walk, you will be transported through time from the creation of the docks to the present day, passing ivory sheds, wine vaults and the dockers' bell along the way.

This unique and methodically researched tour has been developed entirely by volunteers who have now passed written and practical exams and are accredited by the prestigious Institute of Tourist Guiding. For availability or to book a tour, please see below.
